How could a society that is politically and culturally liberal and progressive fall victim to a government that espouses intolerance, discrimination and hatred? This session will explore the fragility of the Weimar Republic and the contrasting moods that characterized its politics and society - excitement, creativity, anxiety and fear. We'll analyze the various factors that ultimately worked to undermine this young and promising period of democracy.
